New Leathern Bottle News and Special Events

November 08
Bang!

This year's Fireworks Night was a big success - everyone enjoyed themselves and the rain held off until after the big event. There was an ecellent crowd, good beer, barbequed burgers, sausages and hot soup. If you missed it, you've only got a year to wait for the next one...
Unfortunately the photographer was too busy enjoying himself to take many photos, but there are a few here...

October 08

The latest steam fair was thouroughly enjoyed by all and sundry.
You can see pics here...

September 08

Golf Day Friday 16th May

The day will start at 11am at The New Leathern Bottle with bacon butties. We will then move over to the Birds Hill Golf Course for 18 holes of golf, then return to the pub for one of Angie's fabulous eat-as-much-as-you-like currys.

£30 per person and £9.95 for friends and family who want to join you just for the curry later. Please book early; we'll need a £10 deposit if you're playing golf.

It will be a great day out for all players of any handicap!

Bungee Jump! Saturday 7th June
Our first Bungee Jump day will take place on Saturday 7th June. You can jump between 1pm and 4:30pm but we're sure the whole day will be a party!

You need to raise £40 of sponsorship for your first jump, second jumps are much cheaper. Pop in for a pint and get the full details - go on, I dare you.

Take me away!

As you know, our food is very popular. We experimented with a takeaway menu last year and it was very popular. We've had several enquiries about takeaway food so we've decided to bring the takeaway menu back. As soon as it's finalised we will put the menu on the site. As usual; watch this space.

British Pie Week

From the 1st to the 7th March it's British Pie Week.

To celebrate, our specials board will be full of pies, pies and more pies. There will be your old favourites as well as some new inventions, so make sure you come along and try a pie.

The British Pie Week website says...

"It is believed that the humble pie dates back to the Egyptian period of around 2000 B.C. The Egyptians passed the goodness and knowledge of pie onto the Greeks between 1400.B.C. and 600 B.C. sometime during the decline of Egypt and the Greek settlements. From Greece the pie spread to Rome in around 100 B.C. The first known pie recipe came from the Romans and was for a rye-crusted goat cheese and honey pie. Pies appeared in England in the 12th century."
